The Seaside Library series of dime novels was published by George Munro of New York from June of 1877 until the final issue on November 24, 1886. The novels of this series were generally selected from well-known European authors, translated by unknown parties and re-published in English for the American audience... presumably without remuneration paid to their original authors since this was before there was much in the way of international copyright protection. Each issue was ten cents but sometimes a larger novel required two issues, costing the reader twenty cents in all if they wanted to finish reading what they started (example:
The Matapan Affair, published April 6 & 13, 1882).
