In the form of a series of letters from a young Jewish girl in Jerusalem to her father in Alexandria, The Prince of the House of David gives the reader an ostensibly first-person eyewitness account of the final three years of the life, the death, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Even though in fictional guise, reading such a realistic account of the greatest story ever told is a thrill—even for non-Christians.

Published originally in 1855, The Prince of the House of David is the third and most famous of a trilogy of epistolary novels by Joseph Holt Ingraham, though it was actually written first.  The Pillar of Fire (1859) was intended to illustrate the beginning of Hebraic power, The Throne of David (1860) its culmination, and The Prince of the House of David (1855) its decadence.

This particular digital version was taken from an 1898 revised edition of the classic Christian book and includes eleven illustrations of Holy Land locations mentioned in the story.
