This digital version of a novel published in 1847 is a redo by the author of the original 1844 version. The story moralizes upon the wrong choices made by seven generations of a family each given the chance to choose his own lifetime gift by a “Genius” (genie). Each of them chooses badly, each bad choice teaches a lesson, with the final lesson provided by the genie himself who informs the last member of the family what they all missed—the choice they all had a chance to make but didn’t.
Those doggone genii. Why can’t they just provide the wisdom in the first place?
