The romance between Henry Plantagenet (King Henry II. of England) and Rosamond Clifford is considered one of the greatest love stories of all time. The story was so popular that for centuries English publishers detailed the romance in a constant stream of pamphlets, ballads, epic poems, plays, and whatever else they could think of that would make them money. This particular pamphlet, barely more than 10,000 words, originally published in 1846 and re-published here as an eBook, seems to be one of the more level-headed efforts, devoid of some of the more outlandish embellishments to the story that tend to make serious historians blanch.
