Published originally in 1905, The Defense of Redleysburg tells the story of a young Kentucky man who is publicly humiliated at the beginning of an Indian attack during Pontiac’s War in the 1760s. Swallowing his pride, he redeems himself by sneaking out at night to hunt in secret, thereby managing to singlehandedly feed the refugees besieged in the fort.
We are so impressed by the writing of Mrs. Frank Lee that this is the third piece of her fiction we have re-published as an eBook. Although short (at less than eight thousand words merely a novelette, technically), it is well worth buying and reading; an enjoyable, satisfying little book as all her books seem to be.
